Renovations and Additions, Built Around How You Live

Most homeowners reach the same point: the house works, the location works, but the family has outgrown the floor plan. Moving solves it on paper and creates three new problems in practice. Extending keeps what you already love and adds what you're missing.

The difference between an extension that lifts a home and one that fights it comes down to decisions made before anyone picks up a tool. We get involved early, while the design is still flexible, so the build is resolved on paper rather than improvised on site.

We'll Help You Build Your Dream Space

What We Build

Whatever the scope, we deliver under one Design and Construct contract, with one team accountable from concept to completion.

Ground Floor and Rear Extensions

Open up the back of the house, extend the kitchen and living, and connect properly to the garden. The most common request we get, and often the highest return on the work.

Second Storey Additions

Build up instead of out when the block is tight. Adds bedrooms, bathrooms, or a parents' retreat without losing yard. Requires the right structural read on what's already there.

Wraparound and Side Extensions

Use side setbacks and awkward corners that the original build ignored. Good for laundries, studies, butler's pantries, and reworking circulation through the home.

Indoor Outdoor and Alfresco

Covered alfresco, bifold and stacker openings, decks, and the structural work that makes a seamless threshold between inside and out.

Getting Ready To Build?

What To Know Before You Extend

Extensions touch the existing structure, so the work is rarely as simple as it looks from the kerb. The questions worth asking early:

  • Planning pathway. A second storey or anything near a boundary usually means a DA through council; smaller, compliant work may qualify for a faster CDC. The pathway shapes both timeline and cost.
  • Structure. Building up or removing walls means understanding what's holding the house together now. We get a structural engineer onto it early rather than discovering surprises mid-build.
  • Older homes. Pre-1990 properties can carry asbestos and dated services. We assess and budget for it upfront instead of treating it as a variation later.
  • Heritage and overlays. Conservation areas and heritage listings add constraints worth knowing before you fall in love with a design.

From first idea to final handover, one team.

A whole home renovation has a hundred moving parts. We hold all of them. You stay focused on the outcome, not the coordination.

Current projects in design · Cronulla joinery shop drawings

From concept render to shop drawing, every detail documented in-house.

01 - Project Clarity Session We meet at your home to understand your goals, scope, and budget. You leave with a clear view of what's possible and whether we're the right fit.

02 - Strategy & Feasibility We map out the approval pathway, timelines, and consultants needed for your project. A realistic plan before a single drawing is produced.

03 - Design Consultation Architectural drawings, engineering, energy reports, and every consultant managed under one roof. One cohesive design, not six disconnected ones.

04 - Approvals Council approvals handled in-house. We manage the paperwork, the certifiers, and the back-and-forth so you get on with life.

05 - Build One team manages the project from demolition to final clean. Site supervision, trade coordination, weekly updates, and a builder who picks up the phone.

06 - Handover & Support Final walkthrough, warranties, care guides, and a managed defects period. A team you can still call long after the job is done.

Why Shafbuild

Four things that set us apart

One point of accountability. You deal with the builder, not a chain of subcontractors passing responsibility along. Every decision, every variation, every question routes through one person who owns the outcome.

Involved before the design is locked. We sit alongside your designer or bring our own, pricing and pressure-testing the build while changes are still cheap. Fewer surprises, fewer variations, a number you can trust.

Built to last, not to a deadline quote. We work to a quality standard first and price honestly against it. If a cheaper number sounds too good for the scope, it usually is. We'd rather lose the job than the trust.

Emily Smith

The entire Shafbuild team were fantastic to work with. Their attention to detail was exceptional, and they provided daily updates throughout the entire project, which gave us complete peace of mind. The quality of work and communication went beyond our expectations - we’d hire them again without hesitation.

Darren Wilson

Working with Danial and the team on our fitout has been a great experience. They guided us and brought our vision and design to life. Shafbuild has been organised, reliable and the communication was better than any builder we've experienced.

Neusha Dicembre

Danial, where do I begin. We engaged Shafbuild for our granny flat construction. From the first moment, to the last detail, he has been nothing but professional, communicative and caring. The best decision we made is to engage Danial. Can’t wait to start planning our next build with Danial!
