Class 2 Building Practitioner
Class 2 Building. Licensed and Accountable.
Class 2 buildings, apartments, and multi-unit residential developments, carry the highest regulatory bar in NSW construction. Under the Design and Building Practitioners Act, this work can only be carried out by registered practitioners, with declared designs, documented compliance, and personal accountability at every stage.
It's a framework built in response to a decade of building failures, and it exists to protect owners. But it also means most builders simply can't legally take this work on.
Shafbuild holds a Class 2 (Medium Rise) Building Practitioner licence. We're qualified to design, declare, and construct Class 2 work to the full standard the law requires, with the accountability and documentation that protects the people who own and live in it.

What the licence means for you
Legally Qualified
Class 2 work requires a registered Building Practitioner under the DBP Act. We hold the licence, so your project is delivered lawfully, by a practitioner the regulator recognises.
Accountable
The DBP framework ties personal, traceable accountability to every declared design and build. That accountability is the protection it was designed to give owners, and it sits with us.
Compliance Built In
Declared designs, documented compliance, and regulated certification are not optional extras on Class 2 work, they're the law. We manage them as a core part of delivery, not an afterthought.
End to End Under One Practitioner
Design, compliance, and construction held under a single licensed practitioner. No gaps between parties, no question of who's responsible, one accountable team across the entire project.
